A Granny Square Blanket

I just finished this blanket to donate to the local Crisis Pregnancy Center. I used yarn scraps, and was pleased that it worked up so quickly. The pattern is as follows:

Round 1:

Chain 6. Slip stitch into the first chain. Chain 3 and make two double crochets into the center ring. Chain 3. Make 3 double crochets into the center ring. Chain 3 and make 3 double crochets into center ring. Chain 3 and make 3 double crochets into the center ring.

You should have four clusters of three stitches.

You can change colors here, or you can slip stitch into a corner of your granny.

Round 2:

Chain 3 and make 2 double crochets into the corner hole. Chain 3 and make 3 double crochets into the same corner.

Chain 1. Make 3 double crochets into the next corner whole, chain 3, and make 3 double crochets into the same whole. Chain 1, and start working into the next corner. Work the same way in every corner until you get back to the begining of the round.

You can change colors, or slip stitch to a corner.

Round 3: Starting in a corner, Chain three, and make 2 double crochets into the corner. Chain 3 and make 3 double crochets into the same whole. Chain 1 and make 3 double crochets into the side whole. Chain one and work make 3 double crochets in the corner whole. Chain 3 and make three double crochets into the same whole. Chain 1 and make 3 double crochets into the side whole. Chain 1 and work into the corner. Continue working until you are at the end of the round. Slip stitch and end off, or you can keep going to make it bigger.

Continue to repeat this process...crocheting 2 sets of three in each corner, chaining 1, and working 3 double crochets in every open space until you reach the next corner. Make blanket as big as desired. You can leave the edging as a single stitch, crochet a scalloped border the entire way around, or do as I did, and crochet with matching fuzzy yarn in a single stitch the whole way around.

Because this blanket works up so quickly, it is perfect for Project Linus. Experiment with different color combinations. This blanket is lovely no matter how you do it.

A Hat Stand

I have started a small collection of hats. I wanted to display one in my room, but did not know how to do so. After rummaging through some cupboards, I ended up taking an unused vase and turning it upside down. Perfect!

Even simple drawings can be made to look more professional if placed in a simple frame.

This was given to me for Christmas, from Abigail.

Pink Decorations

Cut out hearts, from felt, and sew them all together to make a lovely garland. You could use different shapes for different holidays.

I also made a garland to hand around our light fixture- and gluing candy canes together makes perfect hearts!

These Valentine decorations are late, I know. But you can keep them in mind for next year!

Wall Sconces

These hang in my house. The sconces were given to me by my grandma. The candles blended in with the wall color, so to make them stand out, I added crushed seashells!

Did You Know?

Putting toothpaste on a pimple brings all of the white gunk up to the top, making it easy to squeeze.

And Palmolive works great for cleaning bathtubs! It gets everything out of the tub, leaving it nice and shiny. 

Ammonia mixed with water and a little bit of dish soap is great for cleaning windows.

More Than Just Pictures.

Picture frames don't always have to have pictures in them.

You can print out Bible Verses, or favorite quotes.

You can even embellish scrapbook paper with pretty stickers. They look nice, and are a lot cheaper to make than they are to buy!
