With extra triangles from her quilt, Lis made this bunting with ribbon and hot glue. It'll look pretty charming in her apartment.

Foxy Valentine

Inspired by this valentine, and driven by my love of foxes, I set out to make my own version.

Well...it's not quite as cute. Thankfully, I don't think the recipient will be picky.

Gone Fishing.

My 3 year old friend wanted to go fishing, so we quickly whipped up these little fellas in his favorite color. Tie yarn onto a stick and you're good to go!

Printing Fabric

Our dance group is participating in a dance festival this week and I was asked to make a quilt block to represent our group.

I grabbed some fabric scraps and searched for a quick pattern. I ended up making my own variation of a 12 inch Churn Dash.

Mom suggested printing the middle block. So I did!

I took a piece of card stock paper and put double sided tape all over it- smoothed out fabric to fit and voila! It was quite fun. My points don't match up, and I used red thread (my signature) to sew it together. I think it'll work out fine, after it is all quilted.

Pink Decorations

Cut out hearts, from felt, and sew them all together to make a lovely garland. You could use different shapes for different holidays.

I also made a garland to hand around our light fixture- and gluing candy canes together makes perfect hearts!

These Valentine decorations are late, I know. But you can keep them in mind for next year!

Using Old T-Shirts

In my family, we always have t-shirts that we never wear. Do you ever wish that you could actually use them for something? Well, if you crochet or knit, then here is a great way to make your own yarn from them.

Start by choosing an old t-shirt that you never wear. This shirt has seams going up the sides.

Cut the hem off of the bottom of your shirt.

Cut the shirt open on the sides.


Start cutting...you should make your strips at least 1/4 inch wide. Cut until you get ALMOST to the end of a row.

Start 1/4 inch over from where you had just finished cutting, and start making a new row. There will be a little bump at this point in your yarn, but it is easy enough to crochet around.

Keep cutting until you can't cut any more! Wrap your fabric into a yarn ball, and you are ready to crochet!

If the shirt you are using doesn't have seams going up the sides, simply cut around and around until you can't cut any more!

Napkin Rings

Napkin rings a really pretty, and can dress up an ordinary table. They are very fun and easy to make too!Start by cutting strips of fabric 2 inches wide, by 12 inches long. Fold the right sides together, and stitch up the raw edge. Attach safety pin to one end, turned the safety pin to the center, and worke it through so as to turn the long case right side out.

Next, thread the long case onto a plastic shower curtain hook. These can be found at the dollar store. Fold the raw edges of the casing in, so that everything looks pretty.
Hand stitch where the two ends meet, and you're finished!
